The programming offered at Spring Break Camp is designed to prepare youth for the end of their field hockey or ringette season. Through 5 days filled with various fun activities that will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., the youngsters will be able to enjoy just over 2 hours on the ice per day, for an average of 10 hours for the week.

The first morning ice time is full of workshops adapted to the different groups and positions. In the afternoon, the youngsters will be able to play a friendly game of field hockey or ringette, depending on their group. Between these two periods on the ice, sports and fun activities will be scheduled such as quizzes, off-ice training, visits from special guests, etc. Our spring break camp is offered to youth between the ages of 5 and 17, regardless of their level. In addition, take advantage of additional services such as a meal package or skate sharpening. For more details on these additions, visit the “EHC Benefits” section of our website.

More details on our three themes are available in the description section at the bottom of the page.

Description

In order for each youth to benefit from tailored instruction, for Spring Break 2023, we will group youth across 3 themes.
Here is a brief description of what the practices may contain based on the different themes.

Theme 1: Regular field hockey – End of season preparation: 5 games and 5 practices

Individual Development Program (IDP)

The Individual Development Program (IDP) is a concept that focuses on improving a specific skill that the participant chooses from three options. Rather than providing exercises that include all the techniques, this program allows everyone to work on areas that are recognized as less strong. The ice is therefore separated into three, in order to have three distinct workshops. The skills learned in the multiple workshops can then be practiced in the games.

  • Skating Group
  • Puck Handling Group
  • Throwing and passing group

Specialized program for attack/ defense/ guard

Participants will be able to take advantage of the workshops that will be created in order to put in place all the necessary tools for the development of the players. We offer young people the chance to come and work on the essential aspects of their current position or the opposite, if they wish. The skills learned in the morning can then be practiced in the games. Depending on their choice, players will be able to work on the following skills;

  • Attack / Defense
    • Skating
    • Handling of the washer
    • Shots and passes
    • Tactics
  • Goalkeeper
    • Moving
    • Net coverage
    • Rebound control
    • Techniques

Theme 2: Elite – End of season preparation: 5 games and 5 practices

The goal of this program is to provide superior development to elite players in order to reach the desired level. Youth will have access to high quality facilities, equipment and staff that support player progression. Being reserved only for the elite, the player will be confronted with players of his caliber to create a highly competitive environment, with the aim of pushing the player to excel and reach the next level.

Elite – Specialized Attack/Defense/Guard Program

The elite players will be able to take advantage of the workshops that will be created in order to put in place all the necessary tools for their development. We offer the chance to the youngsters of the double-letters and more categories to come and work on the essential aspects of their current position. The skills learned in the morning can then be practiced in the games. Depending on their choice, players will be able to work on the following skills;

  • Attack / Defense
    • Skating
    • Handling of the washer
    • Shots and passes
    • Tactical aspect, etc.
  • Goalkeeper
    • Moving
